Approaching Retirement - Some Thoughts/Ideas
Decide when you are going to retire and plan what you are going to do.
Conside obtaining and using capital to fund once off events like special holidays etc
i.e. spend the kids inheritance!.
Consider a part time job around your pastimes/hobbies
If you enjoy walking consider leading for a walking holiday company.
If you enjoying reading consider a bookshop or library.
If you have artisictic talents consider teaching or leading special interest groups.
Enter competitions you never know, someone has to win
You can enter on the internet and if you are on broadband there is no additional cost.

Check entitlements to benefits.
If your income has reduced check whether you qualify ot benefits like rate rebate. If you have a child at university check whether they now qualify for a bursary.

The Pension Education Fund
The Pensions Education Fund is an initiative which aims to increase financial awareness among working people - both employees and the self employed - to help them make better plans for their retirement.
The fund is aimed at not-for-profit organisations, who will use the money to develop innovative ways to engage with working people about pensions and retirement planning - giving them the information they need to help them to make their own decisions about their retirement.
The Fund has been allocated to various bodies based on a competitive submission.
Amongst others the following bodies received awards.
PRIME helps people over the age of 50 set up in business for themselves. They are a registered charity linked to Age Concern England, founded by HRH The Prince of Wales, who remains PRIME's President, and a member of the Prince's Charities Group. More information from www.primeinitiative.org.uk
